Fall Art Classes Begin Soon

It's time to start painting again!

I will be starting fall watercolor classes at my home studio in Kingston. Registrations are now being accepted for classes Monday or Friday Mornings from 9-11:30 and Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30-9 PM. Classes will begin September 12, 2011.

Each class will start with a demonstration of a specific painting technique. Students will have the opportunity to paint with the teacher and will work on the class project with assistance from the instructor.

I encourages everyone who has ever looked at a painting and wished they could paint, to come to these classes. I believe that everyone can paint and draw with proper instruction and lots of encouragement. My past students have shown tremendous growth in their work and we strive to create an atmosphere that encourages creativity and growth in a relaxed and fun filled environment.

Scientific studies have shown that pursuing new interests, especially creative ones, which encourage social interaction, are extremely beneficial to one’s physical and emotional well-being. As the days grow shorter, you can give yourself something to look forward to each week.

Classes are for all levels; beginners are encouraged to try it. Remember, everyone can learn to paint.

To inquire about classes or to sign up, please call 642-8507 or email: dfgenovese@comcast.net. Additional information and a supply list will be available upon request.

I just can't get enough birches. They are so much fun to paint and I can literally feel their beautiful spirit.

I painted these as a demo for my watercolor class. Usually the demo's aren't "frameable" art, but this one just came alive. It makes me want to paint more, but how many birch tree pictures should you paint before you are obsessed?

At last........New Website is up and running

It's been a while since I last posted to the Blog. As usual, life keeps me very busy. I have been working on a new website for the past month with the help of a wonderful young man from the library. I thought it would be easy, but it wasn't.

Thankfully, he is much more tech savy than me, and he managed to get it done. He still has to show me how to maintain it myself. Boy, does he have his work cut out for him! Please visit the website: www.danniellegenovese.me and tell me what you think. Enjoy the trip!

Here's my latest painting....Reflections of Innocence

Greece and the Beach

The weather here has been perfect lately. It made me think of the beach and what it must be like in Greece at this time of year. I've been spoiled with all this leisure time for reading, painting and seeing the sights.

We were able to go to St. Augustine for a few days as well as taking a dolphin cruise last week. I took a few more classes with my favorite teacher, Anne Abgott, whose work is superb. I am posting the work we did in these classes.

I will be home soon and I'm looking forward to starting my classes again. We will be starting on May 16th. I will hold watercolor classes for all levels on Mondays and Fridays from 9 AM-12 PM.

Monotype classes can be individually arranged for 1-2 students maximum.

Since summer schedules will be upon us in no time, I had a new idea for the classes. If you sign up for six classes ($90) you can come to any of the scheduled classes until you have completed all six classes. That gives you some flexibility and will allow you to come to class whenever your schedule allows. I will give each student a card which we will punch to keep track of the classes you have taken. If you use up all your classes, we can start a new card at any time.

Please let me know if you will be joining us for this wonderful opportunity to relax, have fun, and try some new techniques that I have learned. I am hoping to do some plein air painting this summer as well. We have so many beautiful opportunities to paint outdoors in our area and on the seacoast. Let's give it a try!

I can be reached at my email address: dfgenovese@comcast or via my cell phone at 603 770-1081 before April 3oth. After that you can call me at home at 642-8507 as well.

I am eager to see my former students and perhaps some new faces this spring and summer. Be sure to tell your friends.....all are welcome!

See you soon!

Dannie

Hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed painting them!

Time for painting......finally!

I've been in Florida since the beginning of February and have had the opportunity to get some paintings started, some finished and some are still inside my head. Just wanted to share the work that I did on Jekyll Island, GA last week. It was an idyllic sojourn with some wonderful friends, both new and old. My girlhood friend, Kathy, was able to join me for a week of painting. Two of my students at home were there as well. Everyone was able to finish some terrific paintings. I will share 5 of the ones I completed. Feedback is always appreciated. Hope you enjoy the work.

A balmy spring day in Florida

Hello everyone,

We are finally settled into our winter house in Florida and I have taken two watercolor classes so far. They say that the best artists in the country are in Southwest Florida, over 20,000 watercolorists. It is daunting being in classes with people who are such mature and seasoned artists, but it is a great learning opportunity and it can be a lot of fun.

I completed two of the pieces we did in class. Pretty advanced subject matter, but I did my best with it and here they are:

I am trying something new on Friday.....painting watercolors on Canvas. I actually tried something like this before on canvas board, but this is an actual stretched canvas, so you can paint the edges and not have to frame it. I'm sure I will learn a lot and all these new "tricks" and tips will be shared in my classes when we come home in May.

Hope you have a good week and keep painting!

Getting ready for Florida

I'm sitting here looking out at an 8 foot pile of snow and thinking of sunny (I hope) Florida. We will be there in less than a week. I will have more time to keep up with the blog while I'm there. Keep checking. Lots to share with you all soon.
